Product Description

History: This Western Pennsylvania team was affiliated with the Brooklyn Dodgers in the late 1930s. Pitcher Darrel Hawley led the league in wins, strikeouts, and ERA. Greensburg, although finishing second, did not participate in the post-season playoff, which was held between pennant-winner the Butler Yankees and the third-place Beaver Falls Bees.
History: Among the many promotions for the upcoming 1939 New York World's Fair was this special baseball uniform, which was worn by Babe Ruth in a parade in Manhattan. On the sleeves are a patch of the Fair's distinctive Trylon and Perisphere buildings.

History: There were no fewer than four Greenvilles in organized baseball in 1939, all in the South. The Buckshots from Mississippi played in the Cotton States League. The Lions of Alabama were in the Alabama-Florida League. The Spinners played in the South Atlantic League. Our jersey is from the Greenville Greenies, winners of the 1939 Coastal Plain League pennant. The Greenies were managed by Rube Wilson, who went on to scout for the Chicago Cubs for thirty years.
